What is Trocaire Parish Outreach?
“If you offer your food to the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted, then your light shall rise in the darkness and your gloom be like a noonday.” Isaiah 58:10
Our name –TROCAIRE– means COMPASSION in Gaelic. Our Outreach is here to do justice to the meaning of the name and to carry out the social mission of the Catholic Church by serving, advocating, and alleviating human suffering.
Parish Outreach is people helping people. We attend to the temporary needs of a person with compassion and care, respecting their dignity by offering assistance in finding clothing, food, and information/referrals to essential help in turning their life around. Referrals are made to proper agencies, Dept. of Social Services, Food Stamps, Mental Health Agencies, etc.
The Parishes of St. Patrick and St. Hugh are working together in providing care and services for our brothers and sisters in need in the area of Huntington. We have combined our Outreach efforts under the direction of Mr. Jimmy Calero. Offices and food pantries are maintained in both of our parishes and those in need of assistance will continue to have the opportunities to meet with Mr. Calero at both parish sites.
